Art Works! Rasuwa

GATLANG, RASUWA

The second workshop was organized at Gatlang, Rasuwa District at Nepal Rastriya Secondary School. This time the team visited once on 5-9 Dec 2015 for assessment and then conducted the program on 28 Feb – 6 March, 2016.

About 300 primary and secondary level students, teachers and community members participated in the program.

The goals were

  • To share with teachers, students, community leaders, and guardians how art education can lead to meaningful learning
  • To see how we can bridge the gap between in-school and out-of- school learning
  • To reflect Tamang identity as each young person defines/sees him/herself and to explore what it means to rebuild/build their future post-earthquake
  • To involve the larger community around these young people in this hopeful process of imagining their past, present, and future.

For a more detailed reflection, an article, “Reclaiming Possibilities”, is available online at The Kathmandu Post: http://kathmandupost.ekantipur.com/news/2016-03-19/reclaiming-possibilities.html
