What we do.

Contribution through education.

Shikshya Foundation Nepal (SFN) was established in 2011 with the firm belief that education plays a vital and empowering role in bridging disparities in Nepal.

Shikshya Foundation Nepal, through contribution in education, aims to create a critical mass of leaders who will be instrumental in turning our society into a just, equitable, secular, accountable, thinking, questioning and progressive society.

Philosophy.

Shikshya Foundation Nepal works to provide holistic growth to children, addressing their financial, social and emotional needs.

To see through the entire education process of a child, starting from primary education till advanced college education as required. Vocational training will be provided to those children that seek to specialize in a particular field.

How are we different?

What notably stands out about the Foundation is their focus on quality rather than quantity; rejecting the focus on numbers that so many development organizations are geared towards. For instance, Shikshya Foundation Nepal does not concentrate on literacy percentages and enrolment rates, but on the long- term impact; i.e., in terms of completion of higher secondary education of the children they fund and their engagement in society. Rather than focusing on numbers, Shikshya Foundation Nepal is committed to the overall development of children through education so as to empower a critical mass of leaders, who can contribute to Nepali society.

In keeping with this philosophy, the Foundation has a very minimalist approach to its operations. For instance minimal costs are incurred via human resources and administration, so as to ensure the funds generated go to where they are needed the most i.e. education of children. The Foundation aims to retain only a minimal amount for administrative costs and overheads, with the rest being directed towards its primary objective of education.

The Foundation adopts a “hands on” approach; with the members being personally involved in identifying and short listing potential organizations to be funded. To ensure that funds are channelized to the right place; and to ensure maximum impact and sustainability the team members make multiple visits and conduct thorough inspections to identify the need and credibility of the organization.

The SFN team has developed personal relationships with the students over the years, and tries to ensure best education, with the objective of motivating and supporting each one of the students to excel in their respective field of studies.
