Go Tell It On The Mountain

17-20 March, 2025

“You are not your story. You are simply a medium for it”

Bhavani Iyer

A one-of-a-kind intensive script writing workshop by the renowned writer, Bhavani Iyer left us deeply inspired, and has renewed our belief in the power and magic of writing for South Asian Cinema. The primary objective of the workshop was to lend an incisive insight into the scripts of the participants, guide them towards the best representation of their respective scripts, using modern storytelling, new cinematic, narrative and screencraft. We had an incredible cohort of 16 diverse writers who brought stories from all of Nepal across all genres.

At the end of the fourth day, participants got a chance to pitch to Nepali Film Industry’s producers, actors and directors at a networking event.

Go Tell It On The Mountain

It was truly humbling to witness the encouragement extended to our participants. For some, this was their first experience pitching a story. The producers didn’t just listen, they guided, inspired and even explored potential collaborations. A special shout out to our friend Prachanda Shrestha for making this happen.

As part of the residency program, the resident artists designed and led a 5 days mural painting workshop with students from Grade 6 to 9 at Shree Rudrayani Secondary School, Khokana.

Go Tell It On The Mountain is a project jointly organized by Shikshya Foundation Nepal and Katha Satha. We would like to thank Pravesh Gurung for sharing his dream with us; Bhavani Iyer for her unmatched generosity when it comes to writing guidance and leadership; all the esteemed producers from the Nepali Film Industry who carved out time to listen with such integrity and interest to all the participants’ stories; Ubahang for the beautiful workshop poster; and Shilpakar & Co. for the seamless and smooth implementation of the program.

The public event was supported by The Tea Folks Films.
