Our Story

Established in 2011 by New York based Fashion Designer Prabal Gurung with his siblings Pravesh Gurung and Kumudini Gurung Shrestha, and friends Rati Shah, Rupali Golchha and Riva Thapa.

Shikshya Foundation Nepal, through contribution in education, aims to create a critical mass of leaders who will be instrumental in turning our society into a just, equitable, secular, accountable, thinking, questioning, progressive society.

Shikshya means Education– and we strongly believe that while the emphasis on formal education is important, it is equally important that education can take place beyond classrooms, especially through arts and culture.

The Executive Board comprises of Rati Shah, Kumudini Gurung Shrestha, Rupali Golchha and Riva Thapa. The executive board collectively decides on the work scope and implements the programs.

The executive board members work voluntarily with zero over-heads. Every amount donated goes to implement specific project.
